New This Year Already registered for the Marathon or Half Marathon and now unable to join us in Des Moines on race day due to unforeseen circumstances? Now you can transfer your event registration to the Virtual Race event category and participate in the IMT Des Moines Marathon 26.2 & 13.1 and/or 5-Mile Virtual Race as opposed to a transfer or deferral option.

To Participate

First, register for the IMT Des Moines Marathon 26.2 & 13.1 and/or 5-Mile Run Virtual Race.

Then, download the Strava app (click here), and join the IMT Des Moines Marathon 26.2 & 13.1 and/or 5-Mile Run Virtual Race club event.

Upload your run on race day in order to record your results and to be included in the virtual race leader board. You will not show up on the club event leader board unless you complete 13.1 miles (21.1 km) or 26.2 miles (42.2 km).

To ensure you meet the club event goal, we recommend you run a small amount over 13.1 miles during your activity (about .5km / .3mi). This will give you a buffer in the event your activity distance is shortened after upload to Strava due to the cleanup of GPS irregularities. You can learn about how distance is calculated for our app by reading this Knowledge Base Article.

IMT DMM App is now available! Within the training features of the IMT DMM App you can follow a training plan or customize your own. Start your workout and record your duration, pace and distance, along with average speed and splits. Your goals and saved workouts are used to create an adaptive program that evolves with you, fitting your body and your schedule.

Also, In the app you can find all the information you like to know about the race: course maps, updates via social media, LiveTracking and more. Don’t forget to inform your supporters to download the app, so that they can track your progress live during the race, and even record personal cheer messages! With the IMT DMM app they can see in real-time where you are at on the course. The IMT DMM App uses the crossing of the timing mats to calculate your average speed and pace.

The IMT DMM App is available for free download now through the iTunes and Google play stores.

Use the IMT DMM app or any GPS, Bluetooth device or running app to track your results if you are unable to access the Strava club event.  You can even take a photo of your device, if it can display the date of your virtual race participation. It is also suggested that you email your finish time to [email protected]
