When can I participate in the Run Iowa Challenge?

Run Iowa Challenge presented by Capital City Fruit membership opens on April 1. Monthly badge rewards begin at the end of May through September.

What race distances are offered in the Run Iowa Challenge?

The Run Iowa Challenge presented by Capital City Fruit offers you the ability to train for any of our race distances from any location, anywhere in the world. Including your neighborhood.

Complete your marathon, half marathon, 5-Mile, or 5K training distance in a single continuous run/walk at your own pace.

Follow IMT Des Moines Marathon training plans for daily, weekly, and monthly mileage totals, including Jeff Galloway’s Run/Walk/Run method.

What do I receive for participating in the Run Iowa Challenge?

Run Iowa Challenge presented by Capital City Fruit membership includes:

Do I have to run the IMT Des Moines Marathon race to participate in the Run Iowa Challenge?

No, you don’t have to be participating in the IMT Des Moines Marathon races on October 16 to participate in the Run Iowa Challenge presented by Capital City Fruit. Pay the membership fee. Click here.

How do I sign-up for the Run Iowa Challenge?

Register for the IMT Des Moines Marathon, IMT Des Moines Half Marathon, Bankers Trust Marathon Relay, or the Principal 5K Road Race. Your race registration includes your Run Iowa Challenge presented by Capital City Fruit membership. Click here.

Are you already registered for the race? No problem.

Use your transaction ID from your race registration to set up your free Run Iowa Challenge member account through the Run Iowa Challenge registration page. Click here.

Are you not running the race? No problem. Sign-up for your Run Iowa Challenge member account and engage with others from wherever you are. Click here.

Is the sign-up for the Run Iowa Challenge still open?

Registration for the Run Iowa Challenge presented by Capital City Fruit remains open through September 30th.

You don’t have to be participating in the IMT Des Moines Marathon races to sign up for the Run Iowa Challenge. Click here.

Can I run or walk my workouts in installments or do I do it all at once?

Your training miles must be completed in one day and cannot include miles or steps as a part of your daily routine.

However, if you break up a workout into two sessions, say running three miles in the morning and running another three miles in the evening, you may record six miles total for the day.

Using a tracking device such as Garmin or a similar device/app, track your workout and record the miles or hours:minutes once you complete it.

You may also find it helpful and are encouraged to take a screenshot or photo of your virtual event race results in your Run Iowa Challenge presented by Capital City Fruit monthly tracker for record-keeping purposes. However, it is not required, nor do you need to submit it.

Where can I run or walk my training miles?

You can participate in the Run Iowa Challenge presented by Capital City Fruit from wherever you are!

Start right outside your front door, in your favorite park, on your favorite training route. Or if you live in the Des Moines area on the course itself.

Treadmills are allowed. 

Please follow the guidelines outlined by your local municipality regarding running outdoors to ensure you are keeping yourself and your community safe. Follow standard street lights and traffic regulations like any typical solo training run you do.  

May I complete my workout on a treadmill?

Yes, you may complete any portion of your Run Iowa Challenge presented by Capital City Fruit workout on a treadmill. 

How do I track my workout?
How do I submit/upload my monthly mileage?

Manage your Run Iowa Challenge presented by Capital City Fruit each month through an app, watch, another timing device, or your Run Iowa Challenge monthly tracker.

Once you have completed your workout, record your miles or hours:minutes in your monthly tracker.

At the end of each month, please return to the Run Iowa Challenge registration page and click on the Submit Monthly Total tab next to the event category you are participating in to submit your total. Click here.

You will receive a confirmation message and will then be able to view your results on your private access page.

 

Are there awards in the Run Iowa Challenge?

Each month you participate in the Run Iowa Challenge presented by Capital City Fruit, you can unlock rewards when you submit your miles or hours:minutes for the month.

Collect all five and Give Me FiVe!

The Run Iowa Challenge presented by Capital City Fruit does not offer prize money, overall awards, or age division awards.

 

When will I receive my Run Iowa Challenge rewards?

Many of the Run Iowa Challenge presented by Capital City Fruit items you receive you will be able to access and download through your Run Iowa Challenge results page or confirmation messages thanks to Capital City Fruit.

Run Iowa Challenge presented by Capital City Fruit SWAG will be available for pick up at the DMOS Orthopaedic Sports & Fitness Expo on October 14 and 15.

How do I download my monthly reward badges?

To access and download a copy of your monthly Run Iowa Challenge reward badges, access your confirmation email that contains your Run Iowa Challenge account. Click here.

How do I download my finisher certificate?

Run Iowa Challenge presented by Capital City Fruit miles or hours:minutes totals each month are uploaded to your results page, providing access to your cumulative finisher certificate for each month for download.
