Awards

All finishers are awarded a medal after crossing the finish line. Here is what is offered for those who cross sooner than others.

Regulations

Athletes must be officially registered for the race division they completed to qualify for awards or cash prizes.

An athlete can be awarded prize money in only one event category. The IMT Des Moines Marathon does not duplicate or ‘double-dip’ between prize money, overall awards, and age division awards. Prize money winners cannot also qualify for age division awards.

Prestige takes precedence if an athlete is placed in two prize money categories. (Example: If an athlete qualifies for 3rd place in the Marathon and as Top Iowan, they would be awarded 3rd place in the Marathon, and then the next Iowan to finish would receive Top Iowan.)

The IMT Des Moines Marathon considers cash and gift card awards based on gun time, not chip time. To view prize money and event records for each race division, click here.

Prize Money

Cash is offered in the IMT Des Moines Marathon and goes to the top three male and female finishers and the top two male and female master’s finishers. The IMT Des Moines Marathon offers a cash bonus if the male or female winner breaks the current event record. An additional cash bonus is offered if they finish under 02:20 and 02:40, respectively.

Gift Cards

Scheels presents gift cards in the IMT Des Moines Half Marathon to the top three male and female finishers and the top two male and female master’s finishers. The fastest male and female from Iowa to cross the finish line in the IMT Des Moines Marathon & Half Marathon also receive a Scheels gift card.

Age Division Awards

The IMT Des Moines Marathon presents a personalized keepsake in the IMT Des Moines Marathon & Half Marathon and Principal 5K Road Race divisions to the top three male and female finishers in each of the following age groups; 14 & under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, and 80 & over.

Personalization includes athlete name, race division, place within an age division, and finish time.

All awards are mailed directly to the winning athlete and typically take 5-6 weeks for production and shipping once race results are official.
