All finishers are awarded a finisher medal. For those that cross the finish line sooner than others, here is what is offered.
Athletes must be officially registered for the race division they completed to qualify for awards or cash prizes.
An athlete can be awarded prize money in only one event category. The IMT Des Moines Marathon does not duplicate or ‘double-dip’ between prize money, overall awards, and age division awards. Prize money winners cannot also qualify for age division awards.
If an athlete is placed in two prize money categories, prestige takes precedence. (Example: If an athlete qualifies for 3rd place in the Marathon and as Top Iowan, they would be awarded 3rd place in the Marathon, and then the next Iowan to finish would receive Top Iowan.)
The IMT Des Moines Marathon considers cash and gift card awards based on gun time, not chip time. To view prize money and event records for each race division, click here.
Scheels is the presenting sponsor of IMT Des Moines Marathon prize money, overall awards and trophies, and age division awards.
Cash is offered in the IMT Des Moines Marathon and goes to the top three male and female finishers and the top two male and female master’s finishers. The IMT Des Moines Marathon offers a cash bonus if the male or female winner breaks the current event record. An additional cash bonus is offered if they finish under 02:20 and 02:40, respectively.
Scheels presents gift cards in the IMT Des Moines Half Marathon to the top three male and female finishers and the top two male and female master’s finishers. The fastest male and female from Iowa to cross the finish line in the IMT Des Moines Marathon & Half Marathon also receive a Scheels gift card.
