Rain, rain, go away!
If you live in the Midwest then you are probably feeling the same way I am about this weather lately… Please Mother Nature: NO MORE RAIN!
Although I followed through with my #AprilRunStreak, April showers definitely challenged my desire to keep it going. I ran in the rain some days and succumbed to the dreadmill a few others, but in the end I did run every day in April. I totaled 85 miles last month and I am really proud of each and every one of them.
I have decided to keep the #runstreak going through May if I can, hopefully getting me into full marathon training mode, which I will officially start in June or July. The IMT DMM full is in October so there is still plenty of time to get my training plan ready.
This rain though. Ugh. I am looking out the window right now and it is coming down hard. I still need to get my run in tonight so I am hopeful for a break in the downpour. It does look like, at least in the Kansas City area, we will be getting some dry weather for the next week or so.
Do you have any tips for keeping motivated to run during rainy weather? It is struggle some days when I think about the sloshy shoes, mascara dripping into my eyes, or the inevitable paths where you have no choice but to run through inches of rain puddles or muddy grass.
Yes, I am definitely ready for May flowers.
