Elite Athletes

Elite athletes looking to compete in the IMT Des Moines Marathon races on Sunday, October 18, 2015 should contact the IMT Des Moines Marathon (DMM) office to discuss elite athlete appearance opportunities for the Marathon or Half Marathon. An elite athlete is considered committed to the IMT Des Moines Marathon once they have 1) submitted a DMM elite athlete bio 2) provided supporting documentation that they can qualify to run within established DMM elite time standards 3) completed DMM race entry form and documentation and 4) received written confirmation from the DMM elite athlete committee.

Waived race entry is available for elite athletes who can commit to the race prior to September 1, 2015. Travel Assistance and compensated hotel rooms will be assigned based on athlete accomplishment. Selected elite athletes will be required to share hotel rooms with other elites. Family members or people traveling with the elite athlete are required to provide their own lodging.

Elite athletes with waived race entry are NOT permitted to utilize private, unregistered pacers. Any athlete on the DMM course, who is being paced or receiving aid (water/gel) by another person on foot, bicycle, or motorized vehicle who is NOT registered for that race, will result in disqualification.

Athletes who participate in this competition may be subject to formal drug testing in accordance with USA Track & Field rules and IAAF rule 144. Information regarding drugs and drug testing may be obtained by calling the USOC Hot Line at 1-800-223-0393.

MARATHON TIME STANDARDS

MEN 2:20 & under are eligible for reimbursed domestic U.S. travel & up to 2 nights hotel.
WOMEN 2:50 & under are eligible for reimbursed domestic U.S. travel & up to 2 nights hotel.
MEN 2:21 – 2:25 are eligible for one night hotel.
WOMEN 2:51 – 2:55 are eligible for one night hotel.
MEN 2:26 – 2:35 are eligible for waived race entry.
WOMEN 2:56 – 3:00 are eligible for waived race entry.    

PRIZE MONEY

MARATHON 1st Place $10,000, 2nd Place $3,000, 3rd Place $2,000, 4th Place $1,000, 5th Place $500
MASTERS 1st Place $350, 2nd Place $200
MARATHON EVENT RECORD $1,000 bonus to 1st place finisher if they also establish a new event record.
HALF MARATHON 1st Place $750, 2nd Place $500, 3rd Place $250 (Scheels gift card offered in lieu of prize money.)
MASTERS 1st Place $200, 2nd Place $100 **

The IMT Des Moines Marathon does not duplicate or double-dip prize money and awards.
