Pro Athletes

Professional and Elite athletes looking to compete in the IMT Des Moines Marathon races on Sunday, October 18 should contact the IMT Des Moines Marathon (DMM) office for Marathon or Half Marathon entry. Professional athletes are accepted into the Marathon only, where there is prize money offered. Elite athletes are those looking for comp or waived entry in either the Marathon or Half Marathon. All athletes must provide a a current bio.

Professional athletes are eligible for waived race entries, travel assistance, hotel rooms, and some meals based on athlete accomplishments and time of acceptance into the race. Professional  athletes will share hotel rooms at the discretion of the IMT Des Moines Marathon. Family members or people traveling with the professional athlete are required to provide their own lodging.

Elite athletes will receive waived seeded race entry into either the Marathon or Half Marathon based on their athlete accomplishments and time of acceptance. There are a limited number of waived seeded numbers in the Marathon and Half Marathon. Once those are filled there will be no more waived seeded numbers issued.

All Professional and Elite athletes are NOT permitted to utilize private, unregistered pacers. Any athlete on the IMT DMM course, who is being paced or receiving aid (water/gel) by another person on foot, bicycle, or motorized vehicle who is NOT registered for that race, will result in disqualification. This restriction does not include seeded athletes sharing bottles between themselves.

Athletes who participate in this competition may be subject to formal drug testing in accordance with USA Track & Field rules and IAAF rule 144. Information regarding drugs and drug testing may be obtained by calling the USOC Hot Line at 1-800-223-0393.

A professional or elite athlete is considered committed to the IMT Des Moines Marathon once they have 1) submitted an elite athlete bio 2) provided supporting documentation that they can qualify to run within established elite time standards 3) completed race entry and documentation and 4) received written confirmation from the professional athlete director.

MARATHON TIME STANDARDS

MEN Under 2:20: eligible for reimbursed domestic U.S. travel, up to 2 nights hotel, and some meals.
WOMEN Under 2:40: eligible for reimbursed domestic U.S. travel, up to 2 nights hotel and some meals.
MEN 2:20 – 2:35: eligible for for waived race entry. Other comparable distances accepted.
WOMEN 2:40 – 2:55; eligible for for waived race entry. Other comparable distances accepted.

MASTERS 1st Place $350, 2nd Place $200
MARATHON EVENT RECORD $1,000 bonus to 1st place finisher if they also establish a new event record.
HALF MARATHON 1st Place $750, 2nd Place $500, 3rd Place $250 (Scheels gift card offered in lieu of prize money.)
MASTERS 1st Place $200, 2nd Place $100 **

Prize Money

The IMT Des Moines Marathon does not duplicate or double-dip prize money and awards.
