Getting to Des Moines

FRIDAY Take I-80 or I-35 to Des Moines and catch I-235 toward downtown. Take exit 8A (Iowa Events Center) to 3rd Street. The Scheels Sports & Fitness Expo is in the Iowa Events Center at 3rd and Center.

SUNDAY Take I-80 or I-35 to Des Moines and catch I-235 toward downtown. Take exit 8A (Iowa Events Center) or exit 8B (East 6th/Penn) toward downtown. Races start on the Locust Street Bridge at 101 East Locust.

FROM THE AIRPORT Take Fleur north (left out of the airport) and take the Grand exit on the right just past Gray’s Lake Park. Merge right onto Locust. Most of the IMT Des Moines Marathon host hotels are between 10th and East 1st. Race day activities take place between 3rd and East 2nd.

DES MOINES ATTRACTIONS There are even more things to do in Des Moines outside of the downtown district. Des Moines is a relatively easy city to navigate and get around with minimal travel times.
Blank Park Zoo, with enclosed rainforest and new sea-lion and tiger exhibits. October 16 – 19 features Night Eyes and Halloween fun.
Des Moines Art Center, one of the finest modern art museums in the United States.
Salisbury House and Terrace Hill (governor’s mansion), two historic houses open for public tours.
