Volunteers are the most important part of any well organized event and the IMT Des Moines Marathon is no different. Without the help of volunteers, we would be unable to offer a long distance running race of this nature in Des Moines.

The IMT Des Moines Marathon is not only a celebration of health and wellness in our great community, it is also a chance to showcase the city of Des Moines to athletes from around the country. This event has a reputation of being one of the most organized marathons in the United States and we have our volunteers to thank for that.

Volunteering with this event is an exciting opportunity for you to share in the fun and excitement of race day. We sincerely appreciate your assistance over the course of race weekend. Every little task and minor detail that you can assist with is important to the overall athlete experience. We encourage you to pick a duty that will be fun for you.

The first 1,500 people to volunteer for the IMT Des Moines Marathon will receive an official volunteer long sleeve cotton shirt!

> Perhaps most important information we need to know is what day, time of day and activity you would like to help with. Please don't volunteer if you aren't sure you will be able to be there. No-shows can really cause great difficulties from the planning to the execution stages of the race weekend. We ask that you be able to report on time and remain on task for the duration of your shift.

>> Think of a family member, friend or group who can join you. Volunteering is always more fun when you are able to do it with people you already know!

>>> The IMT Des Moines Marathon is a great chance to promote a group outing or neighborhood activity. Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield volunteers must be at least 14 years old or accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
