Marianne McGinnis
Prevention Magazine's West Coast Editor
Etiquette on the Course and What to Expect After Race Day
For many of us, the physical recovery following race day is easier than the emotional recovery. For some reason, the Wednesday after a big Sunday event is always the worst. Marianne McGinnis will discuss why this happens and how you can prepare for it and reduce the impact. Her discussion includes the marathon's 3 R's: Rehydrate, Refuel and Recover and how you can empower your own post race training program after the big race including: What to do right after you cross the finish line, what to do during the next seven days and 2 weeks and counting.
Marianne will also discuss race day etiquette out on the course. If this is your first race, you’re probably more worried about how many pit stops you’ll have to make than you are about other walkers and runners, but minding your manners during an event can make your whole day smooth and pleasant for everyone. Topics include advice at the starting line, being aware of your surroundings during the race, stopping on the course and post race etiquette at the finish line.
